Michigan Works! honors Novi IT company Red Level for partnership to train and hire technical talent

Red Level, a Novi-based full-service information technology company, was recognized with a Michigan Works! Association Impact Award for forming strategic a partnership with Oakland County and Oakland County Michigan Works! to upskill, train and expand the company’s workforce.

Red Level was nominated for the award by Oakland County Michigan Works! Novi, which also was honored along with the Department of Economic Development & Community Affairs and its Tech248 program for their work supporting Red Level. The awards were given Wednesday during a luncheon in Lansing.

“I congratulate Red Level for partnering with the county and Oakland County Michigan Works! to address critical staffing and training needs as they’ve grown over the past few years,” Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said. “This is another example of how the county works to help its partners succeed. This award is well deserved.”

Red Level needed skilled technical workers and turned to Oakland County and its Tech248 program in 2016 to broaden its search for technical candidates. Oakland County Michigan Works! aggressively promoted open positions and referred job candidates to the firm. Red Level worked with Oakland County Michigan Works! and received a Skilled Trades Training Fund grant that enabled the company to train 23 employees and hire four additional employees.

Tech248 companies attend monthly meet-ups to connect with potential partners, suppliers and customers, as well as build a talent pipeline to address information technology staffing needs in the region.

Oakland County Michigan Works! provides a variety of services to both businesses and individuals through its network of eight service centers located in Ferndale, Highland, Novi, Oak Park, Pontiac, Southfield, Troy and Waterford. Business services focus on recruiting and retaining talent, no-cost training and hiring support, and providing labor market information. Individuals use the centers for assistance with job searches, education and training programs, and career management counseling.
